The Anthem Digital Incubator, an initiative in which Anthem works with emerging startups to solve some of our biggest health challenges, is launching a challenge in partnership with KidsX that will redefine pediatric care delivery models
KidsX, an international consortium of pediatric hospitals focused on improving digital health innovation through collaboration, and Anthem, Inc., a leading health company and soon to be Elevance Health, are collaborating on an Innovation Challenge that will focus on the delivery of pediatric health services in the following focus areas:
-
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Obesity
With the Innovation Challenge, participating KidsX Member Hospitals and their digital health startup partners will compete for an opportunity to work with the Anthem Digital Incubator (ADI) for a potential path to market with Anthem’s affiliated health plans for solutions that leverage novel digital health clinical technologies for prominent pediatric issues. ADI connects the needs of emerging startups and entrepreneurs with the most pressing needs of the business and the people Anthem serves.
“We’re excited to host an Innovation Challenge, in partnership with Anthem, that focuses specifically on individuals enrolled in Anthem’s affiliated Medicaid health plans,” said Omkar Kulkarni, MPH, Chief Digital Transformation and Innovation Officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Managing Director of KidsX. “It’s imperative we acknowledge the barriers pediatric Medicaid patients face when attempting to access consistent health services.”
The Innovation Challenge will take place virtually and will span from mid-July to mid-October. Throughout this period, the Anthem Digital Incubator will host various panels, care model design workshops, and networking opportunities to assist participating hospitals and startups in developing their proposal. The challenge will conclude with a live pitch event, with KidsX member hospitals pitching with their startup partners.
“At Anthem, we know we have the ability to bridge existing gaps pediatric patients face by seeking answers collaboratively, in partnership with forward-thinking entrepreneurs,” acknowledged Omid Toloui, Vice President, Innovation at Anthem, Inc. “We’re looking forward to being a partner in the search for improved and comprehensive pediatric experiences that can improve the health of millions of our nation’s children. We’re proud that the Anthem Innovation Team is in a unique position to help the winning solution improve the health of some of our most vulnerable health plan members.”
Participating KidsX Member Hospitals must partner with a startup from either the 2021 KidsX Accelerator, 2021 AWS Healthcare Accelerator, 2022 KidsX Accelerator, or 2022 Press Ganey KidsX Accelerator cohorts to create and submit a proposal to the Innovation Challenge.
Applications to participate in the Innovation Challenge will be accepted from July 18th through August 26th (APPLICATION PERIOD HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 2nd). Please reach out to the KidsX team for more information.
